A classic five-piece Russian nesting doll set signed by artist Alaeva from Sergiev Posad - one of Russia's most celebrated centres of matryoshka craftsmanship. Each piece is dressed in a different traditional folk costume — red headscarf with rowan berry basket, cream and teal apron, olive green shawl, yellow headscarf with green dress, and a tiny blue-scarfed final piece. Each face is simply and sweetly painted in the traditional style with rosy cheeks and a gentle smile.
